Product name change redirect.

If I change a product name I notice that any links with the old product name automatically get redirected to the new url with the new product name.

Is this a 301 redirect or another type?

Actually I'm not sure that any redirect is considered as the cart takes the "p-123.aspx" from the URL (like submit /p-123-blah-blah-blah.aspx) and builds the final URL with the current se name, ignoring the se name portion you posted to it.

the redirects are 301 unless modifed out of the box.

Which can be seen by looking at showproduct.aspx.cs for webforms version. By basicly seeing Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently"; in the sename does not macth.

Same conceopt for MVC vesions but it is in the ProductController.cs instead and the redirect code to look for is RedirectPermanent.
